Deck the Halls...

1. The tree
Fake. But pretty.

2. Our stockings
Real. And pretty.

3. The nativity scene
Josh was in charge of it this year. Each wiseman thinks that a different farm animal is the baby Jesus and Joseph stands in the corner with his back to everyone because he has just realized that he isn't the father. I should probably fix this soon. There's a fuzzy line between funny and disrespectful and Josh flirts with it every year when he sets up the nativity scene.

4. Four Christmas wreaths
Outside the house. Our landlord Mr. Louis made them. Some of his better work. Sometimes he does good things around the house. These good things include: our house (that he built), his watering of my garden, and these wreaths.

5. 10 plastic Santas
Outside the house. They appeared today. 10 of them. Also the doing of Mr. Louis. I haven't decided if they fall in the category of good things he's done around the house or bad things. Bad things include: the non-working space-age lamp that he installed at the end of our driveway, the contraption that he uses to cover his boat (made of plywood and a plastic tarp), the constant rewiring he does with our bathroom lights so you have to turn on a new combination of switches to make the lights work, and the bright powder blue paint that found its way to our back deck (think tuxedo circa 1986).

Actually, I've decided. I really like the Santas. Attractiveness is overrated when it comes to Christmas decorations. Something inside me likes the tacky and ugly Christmas decorations this year.
