I just got back from camping with some friends from Campus for Christ. I have a few thoughts to share on the trip:
1. Mariah Carey can only be appreciated to her fullest when she is blasted in a car full of singing females. Must buy her #1 hits album.
2. High bush blueberry picking in the Valley is, in fact, very relaxing.
3. Several large bugs dive-bombing my head will bring me to the point of praying that God would keep all the bugs in the park away from me.
4. I only enjoy camping trips that I don't have to plan. It's lovely being cooked for.
5. Condensed milk is a wonderful thing (like on toast with peanut butter).
6. I really need set aside times to reflect on God's word, but also on events in my life. I'm going to write them into my school schedule for the Fall.
Good trip! Too many guys though ;)!
Hellloooooooo Labour Day weekend!! :D
my very special spot to talk about a bunch of things in my life that 1. are true 2. matter to me, and 3. aren't so personal that they shouldn't be on the internet

Bye Beach!
Today was my last day at the beach. I loved this summer. It was my favourite one yet, workwise. The girls I worked with were fun, and I adore the kids that always came down (and their older brother ;) ). We've had so many silly times together. We had a little party on the beach and ordered pizza and slushies. I went for my last paddle around the lake and said goodbye to everyone. I can't wait to see the pics we took today. I'll post them up soon. I miss everyone already. Sigh*.
This next week is gonna be BUSY. I'm going camping from Tues.-Thurs. and then it's off to Amarea's cottage for our girls weekend from Fri.-Mon. (aka. Estro-Festo). Wahoo!

Tunes
"Can you be everything I need you to be?
Can you protect me like a daughter?
Can you love me like a father?
Can you drink me like water?
Say I'm like the desert, just way hotter."
This is from Jewel's newish song "Good Day". I don't really like the song that much, especially the opener that says, "So I say to myself, self..." The chorus isn't that good either. However, I really like the part of the song that's above. It kinda sums up most of what a woman needs, I think. Maybe what she is asking is too much to expect from one man.

Land Ho!
The boat cruise was a great time last nite! Me and Megha had matching leis. We also had matching purses, but I didn't get a compliment on mine :P. Oh! While the subject is on matching: Megha has the same Jacob polo shirt as us, Morgan!! Haha, it's army green. That's ok, I have no problem having the same clothes as people. However, if either of you come to my wedding wearing the same dress as me, I will personally take you out ;). We were running late and came close to missing the boat. Well, that's a little dramatic, we were there 10 minutes before it left. It was fun introducing Megha to everyone that she had heard so much about before. The nite was fun, filled with catching up, loud but good music, "attractive" dancing, romantic moments (case and point: the short Indian guy who grabbed Megha's hand and tried to kiss it :P), goodbye hugs, giddy girls and silly boys. It was the best one I've ever been on. There is something to be said about throwing a couple Maritime songs into a dance mix. I really like hearing those good, solid songs ;) and it makes me feel patriotic. Two thumbs up on last nite!

Saturday Nite, and I Like the Way You Move
No relaxing evening out at the Fireside is complete without the "dance of the earrings". However, it can be complete without mints...apparently. They don't do mints. Don't ask for one, you won't get one. Due to the excitement of spending waaay too much time picking out a movie (with the help of Ronald MacDonald Jr.), nearly falling out of the car window on the highway, and a quick stop at Silversides for a midnite dip: I dozed off during the movie. :)
Congrats to Megha for finishing the MCAT!! Yay to Morgan for being done with the good ol' HRM day camps! Hollah out to our adventurous Sarah who will be staying the year in HK! Welcome back to Bek who has slowed down from her whirlwind summer! Can't wait to see you, Amarea!

Gamecube
So some may think it's a little sad that when two girls (me and Laura) play Mario Party, the computerized character ends up winning, but I have no shame. You don't have to be good at everything. I don't have to be good at everything! I can admit it. Can you? Maybe you can't. That's ok. It isn't my job to judge. There is no judgement here. None.

Finale
I was right! Benji is America's favourite dancer. When he heard his name he cried and they were masculin tears. Men can cry and still be men. Don't bottle it all up inside, it's unhealthy. I found myself wanting Travis to win tonight because he's a cutie. It would have been really cool for Donyelle to win because she is an amazing dancer with a bit of a bigger build. So that would be awesome to see someone win who doesn't have a perfect little figure. I just didn't like Heidi. I'll end the opinions here. The prize was a year contract as Celine Dion's back-up dancer, a car, and $100 000.
On to another pressing matter: WHAT am I supposed to watch now?!?!

Girl's Nite
Lovely nite with Morgan and Bek! Giggles, lotsa food (with salsa to spare), great stories, and a chick flick! We watched Cake. The movie was called Cake. I was torn on who she should end up with, but the ending worked for me in the end.
We love you Megs, good luck on the MCAT! You are our favourite study bug. Bzzzzzz.

Baby's First Floss Box
Did you know that kids should be flossing their baby teeth daily? Flossing is where it's at in the world of dentistry, I gather. I just figured that the baby teeth didn't really matter. Like, yes, brush them, but flossing is another thing. Maybe this outlook is all because I didn't floss as a young child. Thanks, mom! Man! ;)

Hey, How YOU Doin?
I have to say, I love it when womanly woes work out perfectly with your schedule. As in, you couldn't have planned it better. My body and my work schedule are two peas in a pod.
My mom commented about how women spend soooo much more time on their appearance then men do in the morning. I'd say like triple, or even quadruple the time. A thought me and Morgan discussed was perhaps women dress for women more then for men. I mean, of course we want to look good for guys, but who really notices how we look more?? From what I gather, the average man will notice if you look hot in your clothes and maybe they'll like a colour that you are wearing. They may think, "Hmm, her make-up looks...nice today", but they won't really know why it looks nice. However, it's women who will think, "I think she forgot to straighten that little bunch of hair in the back of her head" or "I wonder if she used liquid eye liner to do that" or "who wears brown and black together?" Maybe I'm just not giving guys enough credit when it comes to aesthetic details... :)
Just to clarify, I am more on the side that says that "black can go with anything" as opposed to that which says "brown and black are clashing colours". Sometimes I feel that I can make things work even when others think it can't... this may not always be the case, but I like to think it is.

Prediction
Let it be on the record that I think Benji will win this season of So You Think You Can Dance.

Splash
I hardcore lost a water fight today. However, I had a couple super awesome moves. At one point, a kid was coming at me with a bucket of water, and in one fast swoop, I grabbed the bucket and poured it all over him. I also used a rescue tube as a bat and water bounced off it and hit another kid. Nonetheless, near the end of it, I was picked up and thrown into the water by a 15 year old guy. It was sad. We totally had all the kids on the beach (10+) playing in this huge water war. I can't even remember how it started. I think someone just poured water on my feet or on the other lifeguard's feet. Such a fun day at work!

Beach Day
Me, Morgan, Jordan, and Cora-Lee had a lovely and relaxing day at the beach. My first one of the summer, actually. It was sunny, not too windy, and pretty warm. The water was super cold, but bearable. I faithfully worked on getting rid of my lifeguard bathing suit tan and was made fun of for reading the newspaper on the beach :). We also had a rousing game of some intense water football and were close to being hit by some guys playing baseball on the beach. Yes, BASEBALL- while people were trying to relax and tan. It was kinda cute to see this middle-aged foreign man leave his wife on the blanket to ask the teenage guys if he could play with them and they ended playing all together for a long time. That part was nice. This was the only positive thought I had about those baseball boys during the entirety of our stay at the beach. The fabulous snack of the day was in fact, Zeer-oh's. These would be white Oreo-looking cookies that have no trans-fat or even cholesterol (I'm not sure about the cholesterol). Anyho, they were surprisingly good and we referred to them as Zeeeeeeee-rohhhhhhhhs. Good day!
